Garage Floor Epoxy

Garage floor epoxy will give you a beautiful, yet durable garage floor. Make no mistake... an epoxy based floor finish is going to cost you more than a regular painted finish. However, as long as you keep it clean, your epoxy garage floor will look as good as any showroom floor.

In addition, you will also have a garage floor that resists paint stains, automotive fluid stains, hot tire marks, and general wearing. Typically, you can choose from a gray or tan semi-gloss finish, although some manufacturers offer many different colors and levels of gloss.

Most garage floor epoxy is a 2-part mix that is sold as a kit. The first part is the ACTIVATOR, and the second part is the BASE. All you have to do is mix them according to the manufacturer's instruction, and it's ready to go. Before you apply it, you MUST clean your garage floor. This step is absolutely critical for the epoxy polymers to achieve maximum adhesion to your garage floor. Give it a good sweeping followed by a thorough washing with your garden hose.

You should also use a concentrated concrete cleaner with a pressure washer. If you don't have a pressure washer, you can use the tightest spray pattern of your garden hose nozzle. Then, for the best possible results, you should acid-etch your concrete garage floor which gives the epoxy the best possible surface to bond with.

Finally, you are ready to roll on the epoxy mix itself, and before you know it, you will have a great looking garage floor that will last a long, long time, which is also super easy to clean-up and take care of. You can get epoxy kits in the paint department of your local home improvement center. Make sure to completely READ the manufacturer's instructions and take your time! The faster you rush it, the better chance it has of not turning out how you want it to.
